Lake Oahe

The Cannon Ball access site provides a public boat ramp on Lake Oahe, the Missouri River impoundment in north-central North Dakota. This location offers a paved launch facility with a large parking lot, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats accessing the reservoir. On-site amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, and a fish cleaning station.

Lake Oahe is a substantial reservoir created by dam impoundment, offering relatively calm water conditions compared to the free-flowing Missouri River upstream. Water levels and ramp conditions can fluctuate seasonally and during high-water events, so it's advisable to check current conditions with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department (www.gf.nd.gov) before your trip, particularly during flood or heavy rain periods when ramps may be temporarily restricted or closed. The site is one of over 50 public recreation areas providing access to Lake Oahe.
