About This Access Site
Lake Owen Recreation Area offers public boat access to this scenic 1,323-acre lake in Drummond, Bayfield County. The boat ramp is located near Lake Owen Campground and is accessible via the Medicine Bow Rail Trail. Note that the ramp has no dock, so hand-launching kayaks and canoes is straightforward. The lake features crystal-clear water with a maximum depth of 95 feet, making it ideal for paddling and exploring.

Anglers will appreciate the excellent fishing opportunities—the lake supports panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and trout species. Beyond paddling, the recreation area provides a swim beach, picnic facilities with shelter/chalet at the northern end (Forest Road 213/Lake Owen Drive), and trail access including the North Country Trail and Drummond Recreation Trails. This makes Lake Owen a good choice for a full day of outdoor recreation combining water sports with hiking or camping opportunities.
