About This Access Site
Lake Providence Port offers a primitive boat ramp providing access to the Mississippi River in East Carroll Parish. The concrete ramp is built along the old riverbank and generally offers good launching conditions across most water levels, making it a reliable option for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats in the area. Access to the site is via US 65, LA 596, and Bunch's Bend Road.

Paddlers should be aware that this is a major river system—the Mississippi flows at an average velocity of 11.24 feet/second with substantial average discharge of over 685,000 cubic feet per second. The river's broad drainage area (nearly 1 million square miles) means water levels and current conditions can vary significantly. As a primitive facility, amenities may be limited, so plan accordingly. Note that access to the river may be cut off during certain high water conditions around 2000 river miles downriver, so check current conditions before launching. This location provides excellent freshwater fishing opportunities within Louisiana's extensive network of waterways.
