About This Access Site
Lake Roy Public Boat Ramp provides convenient access to this 74-acre freshwater lake located in Polk County near Winter Haven. The ramp is situated on the lake's southeastern shore along Cypress Gardens Boulevard and includes amenities such as picnic tables, making it a good spot for a day outing. The ramp accommodates various watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.

Lake Roy is part of Winter Haven's Chain of Lakes, a system of 16 interconnected lakes linked by canals. Paddlers and boaters can explore beyond Lake Roy by traveling through the canal system to access other lakes in the chain. The lake itself supports warm-water fishing for species including bowfin, bluegill, and sturgeon. Note that access between lake chains is controlled by a self-operated lock system with operating hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, which is important to keep in mind if you plan to explore the broader canal system.
