Lake Sakakawea State Park in Garrison offers convenient boat access to one of North Dakota's largest recreation destinations. The park features two boat ramps—a multi-lane ramp on the west side and a single-lane ramp on the southeast side—both equipped with courtesy docks. This location provides reliable launch facilities for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats heading onto the expansive 178-mile-long lake.
Lake Sakakawea stretches across 1,340 miles of shoreline, offering diverse paddling and boating opportunities with beautiful scenery and numerous protected coves for anchoring. The park provides additional amenities including bathroom facilities and a fish cleaning station. For overnight stays, two reservable campgrounds are located within 10 miles: Wolf Creek Campground and East Totten Trail Campground. Note that water conditions and ramp usability can be affected by weather events and water levels, so conditions may vary seasonally.
