About This Access Site
The Sullivan boat ramp provides convenient access to Lake Shelbyville, a major recreational reservoir in central Illinois. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility features a four-lane launching ramp adjacent to a 175-car parking lot, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats of all sizes. Note that a fee is assessed at this developed access area; however, free gravel ramps are available at state park locations around the lake if you prefer to avoid the fee.

Lake Shelbyville offers diverse paddling opportunities with a wide surface area ideal for recreational boating and water sports. The lake is well-developed with support services, including several private marinas that offer boat rentals, motors, and full supplies for boating and fishing. Two campground options are available within 10 miles—Wilborn Creek Group Camp (reservable) and Sullivan Marina and Campground—making this an excellent base for multi-day paddling trips in central Illinois.
