About This Access Site
The Sullivan boat ramp provides convenient access to Lake Shelbyville, a major recreational lake in central Illinois. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed facility features a well-developed four-lane launching ramp adjacent to a 175-car parking lot, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. A launch fee applies at this developed access area; however, free gravel ramp alternatives are available at state park locations around the lake.

Lake Shelbyville offers diverse paddling opportunities across its expansive surface. The area has excellent amenities nearby, including rental boats and motors, as well as full-service marinas with boating and fishing supplies. For overnight trips, paddlers can access the nearby Sullivan Marina and Campground or the reservable Wilborn Creek Group Camp, both within 10 miles of the access point. This location is ideal for paddlers seeking convenient access to a well-developed recreational lake with comprehensive facilities and services.
