About This Access Site
Lake Showme is a 225-acre public lake located two miles west of Memphis on Highway 136, then one mile south on Lake Showme Drive (a gravel road). The access site features a public boat ramp with recently improved ADA-accessible facilities. The lake welcomes kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats, though outboard motors exceeding 10 horsepower must be operated at slow, no-wake speed. Note that the general area is closed to public use from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily, though boat launching and landing are permitted 24 hours a day where allowed.

This is a scenic Scotland County destination suitable for recreational paddling and fishing. The improved ramp infrastructure makes it an accessible option for various watercraft. Check local regulations before your visit, and be aware that the city may restrict access during flood conditions, though permits can be issued by the Mayor for essential access to boat facilities if needed.
