Lake Sugema Wildlife Area offers a well-developed boat launch facility on Tug Fork Big Indian Creek in Keosauqua, making it an excellent access point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters. The launch features a large asphalt boat ramp with dedicated boat trailer parking, along with ample parking for vehicles. The surrounding 3,000-acre wildlife management area provides scenic paddling opportunities with wildlife islands and managed habitat throughout the lake.
The facility is comprehensive and paddler-friendly, with amenities including floating boat docks, accessible fishing piers, restrooms, and a modern shower house. A sewer dump station, picnic areas, and shelter house are also available. The lake is actively managed as a quality fishing destination, stocked with largemouth bass, walleye, bluegill, black crappie, channel catfish, and saugeye. Overnight camping options include 23 hard-surfaced camp pads, primitive campsites, and rental cabins, making it convenient for multi-day paddling trips.
