About This Access Site
This boat ramp provides access to Lake Texoma, one of the largest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoirs and the 12th largest in the nation. The lake is a popular destination for all types of boating activities, from kayaking and canoeing to sailing and power boating. The ramp is conveniently located in Johnston County near the Oklahoma-Texas border, making it accessible for both day trips and extended paddling excursions.

The Red River feeding Lake Texoma is a major waterway (Stream Order 9) with an average flow of 68,237 cubic feet per second and significant dimensions—stretching nearly 928 miles with a drainage area spanning over 84,000 square miles. Paddlers should be prepared for the characteristics of a large river system, including moderate current (average velocity of 5.93 ft/sec) and substantial water volume. The area offers scenic paddling opportunities with nearby access to Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge, which is excellent for wildlife viewing and exploring natural habitats.

For current information on ramp facilities, amenities, and conditions, consult the interactive Lake Texoma boat launch map or contact local recreation areas and marinas around the lake. Weather and water conditions can change significantly on a reservoir of this size, so paddlers should check conditions before launching.
