Located in Sherwood Shores, Grayson County, Lake Texoma Marina provides boat access to Lake Texoma, a major U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir and one of the largest lakes in the United States. This is an ideal launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and powerboaters looking to explore the expansive 927-mile Red River system. The facility is part of the Lake Texoma recreation area and offers a full-service marina experience.
Lake Texoma itself offers relatively calm, predictable water compared to the free-flowing Red River downstream. The Red River averages approximately 68,000 cubic feet per second flow with a modest gradient of 1.6 feet per mile, making it suitable for various watercraft. For paddlers interested in exploring beyond the lake, note that the Red River continues for over 1,100 miles downstream toward the Mississippi River, though additional boat ramp access below Lake Texoma is limited. Big Mineral Camp is available nearby for overnight stays, and the area provides access to outdoor recreation including the nearby Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.
