Located in Norman at Lake Thunderbird State Park, the Hog Creek Boathouse provides convenient access to both Hog Creek and Lake Thunderbird. This is one of nine boat ramps in the park, making it a reliable launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The facility includes parking, bathrooms with showers, and picnic areas, along with a dedicated swimming beach nearby for non-paddling recreation.
Lake Thunderbird is a larger impoundment on the Little River, situated about 13 miles east of downtown Norman. Paddlers can explore both the slower lake waters and creek channels depending on conditions and skill level. The park is well-developed with two marinas (Calypso Cove Marina and Little River Marina), RV camping with full hookups, and primitive campsites, making it suitable for extended visits. Check current water conditions and wind forecasts before launching, as lake conditions can vary significantly.
