About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Lakebay Marina provides water access to Mayo Cove in Pierce County's Key Peninsula area, offering hand-launched access for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. The site is conveniently located directly across the street from Mayo Cove Inlet, making it easy to launch small craft. The facility supports various watercraft including power boats and sailboats, with planning underway for improved low-impact infrastructure and design.

**Nearby Recreation:** This access point places paddlers near excellent Puget Sound recreation opportunities, including Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, Penrose State Park (just 1 mile away across the water), and Joemma State Park (3 miles away). The area is also close to Bay Lake for additional paddling options. Mayo Cove offers scenic views across the water toward Penrose Point State Park.

**Important Note:** Lakebay Marina is currently not open for regular operations. Before planning a visit, contact Pierce County Parks or check current announcements, as the facility is undergoing improvements and updates with recent legislative funding allocated for 2024-2025.
