About This Access Site
Lamar Point offers convenient access to Pat Mayse Lake, a 6,000-acre reservoir in the Red River Basin near the Lamar County community. The facility features two concrete boat ramps—one single-lane and one dual-lane—making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational boats. The site has a 50-vehicle parking capacity and is a day-use facility that requires a recreation pass (reservable through Recreation.gov).

To reach Lamar Point, take FM 1500 north from FM 1499, then turn left on CR 34770. The lake offers year-round paddling and boating opportunities with calm, protected waters ideal for kayaking and canoeing. The reservoir's large surface area provides plenty of space for exploration, and the site's proximity to developed park areas and multiple campgrounds on both the east and west sides of the lake makes it a good base for multi-day paddling trips. Amenities at nearby campgrounds include electric hookups, water, and dump stations for those planning extended stays.
