About This Access Site
Lamar Point Day Use offers convenient access to Pat Mayse Lake's 6,000 acres of water via two concrete boat ramps—one 1-lane and one 2-lane—with parking for up to 50 vehicles. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking for a well-maintained launch point. The site is located in Lamar County and can be accessed by taking FM 1500 north from FM 1499, then turning left on CR 34770 north of the old store. Day-use passes are required and can be reserved through Recreation.gov.

Pat Mayse Lake, situated in the Red River Basin, provides ample water for paddling, fishing, and recreational boating year-round. The lake's extensive shoreline and nearby campgrounds (Pat Mayse East and West) make this a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Additional amenities nearby include dump stations, drinking water, and restroom facilities at adjacent campgrounds. This location is particularly good for beginners and leisure paddlers seeking calm water conditions rather than river current.
