About This Access Site
Laurel Park offers an excellent boat launch and access point for paddlers and boaters on Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River. As part of the Don Carter State Park, this 124-acre facility features the largest boat ramp on Lake Lanier, making it a popular destination for launching larger motorized boats as well as non-motorized craft like kayaks and canoes.

The ramp provides ample space and multiple launch lanes to accommodate high-traffic periods. Beyond the boat launch, Laurel Park also features a dog park, paved walking trails, and other family-friendly amenities. While the park itself is operated by Hall County, it sits on the shores of Lake Lanier, which is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' recreation area.

For paddlers, the Chattahoochee River at this location is a broad, slow-moving waterway, making it well-suited for leisurely kayaking and canoeing trips. Boaters will find the open expanse of Lake Lanier provides ample room to explore, though caution is advised as this is a major recreational lake with significant boat traffic at times. Visitors are encouraged to check current conditions and any applicable rules or restrictions before planning their trip to Laurel Park.
