About This Access Site
Lavonia Park (South) is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the east shore of Lavon Lake near Wylie. The site offers two 4-lane boat ramps—one inside the park and one just outside—providing good access for kayaks, canoes, and larger boats. A courtesy dock is available at the inside ramp. To reach the ramps from Wylie, take Texas Highway 78 north and turn west on FM 6. Note that while there is a $4 day-use fee for the park's picnic areas and facilities, **the public boat ramps can be accessed without paying an entrance fee**, making this an economical launch point.

The facility is part of a larger campground and recreation area offering 38 full-hookup RV sites, a swim beach, and picnic facilities. The park is staffed with an attendant on duty. Lavon Lake is a popular destination for anglers targeting channel catfish, crappie, and striped bass, and the calm lake waters make it suitable for paddlers of all skill levels. For more information or to make camping reservations, contact the park at 972-442-3141.
