Ledfords Chapel boat ramp provides access to Chatuge Lake, a scenic reservoir on the Hiwassee River along the North Carolina-Georgia border. This is one of three public boat launches on the North Carolina side of the lake, located near Highway 64.
The ramp is suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small powerboats. The lake offers opportunities for recreational boating, fishing, and scenic exploration. Chatuge Lake is a large impoundment with over 130 miles of shoreline, providing ample room for paddlers and boaters to spread out. The river upstream of the lake has a moderate gradient, making it a popular destination for whitewater enthusiasts when flows are sufficient.
Nearby Fires Creek Hunters Camp is the closest campground within 10 miles of the access site. Visitors should prepare for limited amenities and services in this rural, mountainous area. Before your trip, research current lake conditions, plan your route, and pack the necessary safety gear for your chosen water activity.
