Ledge Rock provides convenient access to Falls Lake, a major 252-mile river system managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the State of North Carolina. Located in Granville County between Creedmoor Road and Highway 85, this access point is situated on a significant waterway with substantial flow (averaging 6,394 cubic feet per second) and a gentle gradient of approximately 1 foot per mile, making it suitable for various paddling and boating activities.
To reach the water, visitors should park in the gravel parking area off Thornton Road and walk approximately half a mile down a paved greenway trail to the "T" intersection where the actual boat launch is located. This is a popular spot for both fishermen and paddlers. Before launching, note that Falls Lake is a large reservoir system, so water conditions and wind exposure may vary depending on location and weather. Check current conditions and regulations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before your visit.
