The Lee Vining Creek boat ramp provides access to Mono Lake, a unique and scenic high-altitude desert lake. While there is no improved boat launch facility, this unimproved access point allows kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to launch directly into the lake.
The ramp is located at the corner of Highway 395 and Third Street in the town of Lee Vining. It consists of a dirt road leading down to the water's edge, suitable for hand-launching small craft or backing trailers into the shallow water to launch larger boats. Visitors should use caution when launching, as the substrate can be soft and uneven.
For those seeking a more developed launch site, the nearby Navy Beach on the south shore of Mono Lake offers a paved parking area and easy access to the water. Camping is available at the nearby Lower Virginia Creek Primitive Campground, though reservations are not accepted. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the unique conditions of Mono Lake, with its high salinity and abundance of striking tufa formations.
