About This Access Site
The Lewellyn Branch boat ramp provides access to the scenic Cheoah Lake, part of the Little Tennessee River in western North Carolina. The ramp and adjacent fishing pier are located just below Fontana Dam, near the upstream end of the lake.

This is one of the only public access points on Cheoah Lake, which is surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Nantahala National Forest. The ramp and pier are handicap accessible, making this a convenient launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters alike. The lake offers peaceful, protected waters ideal for recreational use.

To reach the Lewellyn Branch access, take US 19/74 West from Bryson City and turn right onto NC 28 N. Follow NC 28 for about 25 miles, crossing the Little Tennessee River just below the dam. The boat ramp and fishing pier will be on your right. Nearby campgrounds like Rattler Ford and Cheoah Point provide options for overnight stays in this scenic area.
