Little Black Hoof Lake

Little Black Hoof Lake is a 58-acre shallow lake located northeast of Riverton in Crow Wing County, with a maximum depth of 13 feet. The access point is a small earthen boat ramp situated on the northwest side of the lake off County Road 128. This modest access works well for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats, though the shallow depth means larger vessels should exercise caution.

The lake is surrounded by cattails and water lilies, creating a scenic natural setting typical of Minnesota's lake country. Paddlers should be prepared for shallow water conditions and vegetation that may affect navigation in some areas. As a public access point, there are no launch fees unless a vehicle permit is required. This location offers a quiet alternative to busier regional lakes and pairs well with exploring nearby recreation areas along the Mississippi River Headwaters system.
