About This Access Site
Little Creek is a boat ramp access point on Lake Norman, the impounded waters of the Catawba River in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Lake Norman is a major reservoir created by damming the Catawba River, offering relatively calm, protected water conditions ideal for recreational boating. The Catawba River system is a significant waterway with a drainage area of 4,396 square miles and an average flow of over 6,000 cubic feet per second, making it one of the major river systems in the Carolinas.

The Catawba River proper is a long-distance waterway extending 225.71 miles from its headwaters with significant elevation drop, though at Lake Norman the water is impounded and conditions are substantially different from the free-flowing sections downstream. Paddlers and boaters using Little Creek should be aware that Lake Norman can experience variable conditions depending on dam operations and seasonal water levels. The access point provides entry to a substantial body of water suitable for various recreational boating activities.

Boaters should check current water conditions and any local regulations before launching, as reservoir levels and water quality can vary seasonally. The proximity to Lincoln County provides access to a major recreational resource in the Piedmont region of North Carolina.
