Little River Quarry

Little River Boat Ramp provides convenient public access to Little River and the backwaters of Lake J. Strom Thurmond (also known as Clark Hill Reservoir) in the western Long Cane Ranger District of Sumter National Forest. The ramp features a well-designed, level launch area with ample open space, making it straightforward for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters to launch and retrieve their vessels. This is a non-reservable, day-use facility operated by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

The area is particularly popular with anglers seeking the productive fishing waters of the reservoir's backwaters, but paddlers will find excellent exploration opportunities along Little River's quieter sections. The ramp is located near Willington in McCormick County, with seasonal camping available nearby at Morrow Bridge and Midway Camps for those planning extended visits to the area. From Anderson, take Highway 28 west toward Abbeville, continuing for approximately 15 miles past the intersection with Highway 72, then turn right on Richey Road and travel about 1.7 miles to reach the access point.
