The Littlerock boat ramp provides access to the Black River, a major river system spanning 288 miles across western Washington. Located in Rochester (Thurston County), this access point allows paddlers and boaters to launch onto a substantial waterway with an average flow of over 10,500 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 1.5 feet per mile. The Black River's size and flow characteristics make it suitable for experienced paddlers comfortable with larger river conditions.
When arriving at the site, follow the one-way traffic signs that direct you around the north side of the former marina store building. Continue around the east side and pull up along the south side of the building to access the launch area. The facility includes parking and a functional boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. Given the Black River's significant flow and size, check current conditions before launching, and ensure you have appropriate skills and equipment for the water conditions you'll encounter.
