About This Access Site
Located in the southwest corner of Lake Buchanan near Buchanan Dam, this protected access point offers a two-lane concrete boat ramp ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The sheltered location provides good wind protection—an important advantage on this large impoundment. The facility includes parking for 17 vehicles, restroom facilities, picnic areas, and a campsite for those planning extended stays.

**Getting There:** From Austin, take TX 71 west toward Marble Falls, then north on US 281 and west on FM 1431. Follow signs to FM 261, turn left, and continue about half a mile to reach the park entrance. From Llano, take FM 2241 north to Bluffton, then FM 3014 for 0.3 mile to the main site entrance.

**Conditions & Tips:** Lake Buchanan is a large, protected reservoir on the Colorado River. As water levels fluctuate seasonally, the park is installing a rail system for a courtesy dock to facilitate launching during lower water periods. If you're paddling in varying conditions, this access point's protected location and facilities make it a reliable choice on the lake.
