About This Access Site
Lofers Bend East is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility offering a convenient two-lane boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats on Lake Whitney, a popular Central Texas reservoir on the Brazos River. Located 7 miles east of the town of Whitney via Highway 22 (near the dam), the ramp is open year-round, though day-use fees are charged April through September. The campground features 66 campsites with water and electrical hookups, making it ideal for paddlers planning multi-day trips.

The facility is well-equipped with amenities including flush toilets, showers, a dump station, and drinking water. Lake Whitney offers excellent conditions for recreational paddling, fishing (bass, crappie, and catfish), and swimming across its scenic shoreline dotted with cedar, oak, and live oak trees.
