About This Access Site
Lofers Bend West is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground and day-use facility located on Whitney Lake in central Texas, approximately 7 miles east of the town of Whitney. The site features a two-lane boat ramp providing convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats to this popular 23,560-acre impoundment on the Brazos River. The facility operates seasonally (April-September) and charges a day-use fee during this period. A day-use area is also available if you prefer not to camp overnight.

The campground offers full amenities for paddlers planning extended trips, including 51 electric campsites, 23 non-electric sites with water hookups, flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. Lofers Bend West is situated on the lakeshore among rolling hills with cedar, live oak, and post oak trees. The lake is well-suited for recreational paddling, fishing, and swimming, with abundant wildlife including deer and various fish species (bass, crappie, and catfish). For directions, take Highway 22 west from I-35 near Hillsboro; the park entrance is just before the Whitney Dam.
