About This Access Site
The Logtown Primitive Boat Ramp provides public access to the Pearl River in Hancock County, Mississippi. Located near Pearlington, the ramp can be reached by traveling 1 mile east on Gainsville-Pearlington Road from its intersection with MS-604, then turning left and continuing 1.5 miles to the ramp area. This is a basic, primitive facility suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.

The Pearl River at this location is a major waterway—a large, fast-moving river with an average flow of over 13,000 cubic feet per second and velocities around 3.7 feet per second. Paddlers should be prepared for strong current conditions and understand that this is a substantial river with significant water movement. The river has a gentle average gradient of 0.9 feet per mile, making it generally navigable, but current strength should be the primary consideration for trip planning.

From Logtown, paddlers heading downstream will encounter Holmes Bayou joining the West Pearl River approximately 4 miles away, with the barge canal and Lock 1 (near Highway 41) located just beyond. The Pearl River stretches 435 miles to the Gulf of Mexico, offering extensive paddling opportunities for those comfortable with larger river conditions.
