About This Access Site
Long Branch provides a 2-lane boat ramp providing access to Lake Whitney on the Brazos River in Bosque County. The ramp is open year-round with fees charged seasonally (April-September). This is one of three public boat ramps serving Whitney Lake, which also features a dedicated canoe/kayak launch and ample parking for vehicles and trailers.

Lake Whitney offers a scenic, manageable paddling environment with numerous recreational opportunities. The lake is surrounded by 10 Corps of Engineers parks, one state park, and several additional parks managed by Hill County and private operators, providing excellent camping and day-use options for extended outings. For those seeking extended river paddling, the 43.3-mile stretch below Lake Whitney Dam to SH 6 near Waco features flatwater conditions and at least a dozen access points, allowing trips of varying lengths. Note that this section may see airboat traffic, so paddlers should remain alert.

For specific information about current hours, exact fees, and amenities, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Whitney Lake Office at (254) 622-3332. Payment is electronic only; cash is no longer accepted at Corps-operated facilities.
