About This Access Site
Long Lake's public boat launch in Birchwood is the only public access point on this 3,478-acre Washburn County lake, making it an essential stop for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site features a paved boat ramp with a 7% slope and 3-foot launch depth, plus a boarding dock to assist with launching and landing. ADA-accessible facilities are available, and a daily launch fee of $5 applies. The ramp can accommodate both paddlers and larger recreational boats looking to explore the lake.

With a maximum depth of 74 feet, Long Lake offers excellent conditions for paddling and boating throughout the year. The lake supports populations of northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, and perch—making it a popular destination for both summer boating and winter ice fishing. The surrounding Long Lake Recreation Area provides a developed facility setting for launching and parking. Given that this is the only public access point on the lake, arriving early during peak seasons is advisable to secure parking and launch space.
