Located on 10th Street NW just off Highway 14 in Cohasset, the Loon Lake boat ramp provides convenient access to this 1,095-acre inland lake. The site features a concrete plank, single-lane boat ramp equipped with a roll-in dock and is ADA-compliant, making it accessible for paddlers of varying abilities. The sandy lake bottom and firm shoreline near the ramp allow for easy wading and entry.
Loon Lake is an excellent destination for kayakers and canoeists seeking a calm, quiet paddling experience. With 14 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 202 feet, the lake offers plenty of room to explore. The sandy bottom and clear water also make it popular for fishing (bluegill, crappies, bass, northern pike, and bullhead). Pokegama Dam Campground is located within 10 miles if you're planning an overnight trip, and the Mississippi River Headwaters area and Pokegama Lake provide nearby paddling alternatives.
