About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** The public boat landing is located on the north end of Lower McKenzie Lake near Spooner in Washburn County. From Zehm Road, turn south onto McKenzie Path Road and follow the gravel road approximately 0.5 miles until it reaches the lake. This is a straightforward access point suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats.

**Lake Characteristics:** Lower McKenzie Lake covers 206 acres with a maximum depth of 17 feet and a mean depth of 9 feet. The lake is classified as a drainage lake with low water clarity, so paddlers should be prepared for limited visibility. The lake supports a healthy fishery including musky, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and panfish, making it popular with anglers. The modest size makes it manageable for paddlers of varying skill levels, though the shallow mean depth means boaters should watch for obstacles in low-clarity conditions.
