Lower Port Hadlock provides convenient public access to Port Townsend Bay, one of the premier boating destinations in Puget Sound. The facility features a boat launch ramp, pier, and dock, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small to mid-sized boats. The ramp is located just south of the Port Hadlock commercial district—look for the Ajax Cafe landmark on Oak Bay Road, then turn onto Lower Hadlock Road and follow it downhill to the water.
**Practical Information:** The Port of Port Townsend operates this facility, but there is no dedicated upland parking area. Boaters must park along the public rights of way on Lower Hadlock Road and North Water Street, so plan accordingly. The protected waters of Port Townsend Bay offer calm conditions ideal for paddling, and the location provides excellent strategic access to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, San Juan Islands, and surrounding Puget Sound waterways.
The site is well-positioned between Port Ludlow to the south and Port Townsend to the north, making it a practical base for exploring the region's rich maritime heritage and natural beauty.
