Located approximately 5 miles north of Mackay off US Highway 93, the Middle access site provides a gravel boat ramp for launching onto Mackay Reservoir. To reach the ramp, take Exit 38 south on Spur 25 and continue 3.7 miles across the Mackay River Bridge; the ramp entrance is approximately 0.3 miles past the bridge on the right side of the causeway. The reservoir sits nestled beneath the White Knob Mountains and Mackay Peak, offering scenic paddling in a mountain setting.
This site is well-equipped for extended recreation, with 26 campsites, RV hookups, a dump station, restrooms, and drinking water available. The reservoir supports year-round use, with popular summer boating and fishing, as well as winter ice fishing opportunities. Note that camping is limited to 10 days within any 30-day period, pets must be leashed at all times, and groups of 15 or larger need a permit from the IDFG Regional Office. Additional boat launches are available elsewhere around the reservoir and downstream of the dam if you need alternative access points.
