Mackay Springs

Mackay Springs provides a gravel boat ramp access point to Stone Lake in Washburn County, Wisconsin. This launch site serves as a gateway for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters exploring the area's waterways. The gravel ramp design is typical for smaller lakes and rivers in the region, suitable for hand-launching smaller craft and trailered boats.

The access point is part of the broader Namekagon District recreation area managed by the National Forest Service. While camping information indicates primitive, Leave No Trace sites are available throughout the Namekagon River system (67 sites from Namekagon Dam to the St. Croix confluence), paddlers should note that camping is limited to 10 days within any 30-day period. All sites are free and first-come, first-served, marked by brown signs with tent symbols at the river's edge. 67, primitive, Leave No Trace camp sites are located on the Namekagon River from Namekagon Dam to the confluence of the St Croix River and on the St. Croix River from Gordon Dam to Riverside Landing. All sites are free. No permit required. Camp only in designated sites marked with brown camping sign and metal fire ring. Sites are available first-come, first-served.
