About This Access Site
Madame Dorion Memorial Park provides public access to the Walla Walla River at Lake Wallula near Wallula Junction. Located on the north bank of the river near the bridge, this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers site offers a boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and small watercraft. The park features a memorial honoring Marie Dorion, an important pioneering figure from the early 1800s. Access is via an unmarked dirt road off Route 12, south of the Wallula area near the tiny hamlet of Wallula.

Paddlers should be aware that this location sits at the confluence region of the lower Snake and Columbia Rivers, characterized by relatively calm, pooled water typical of the dam-created Lake Wallula. The area is suitable for recreational paddling and motorized boating. Nearby recreation opportunities include McNary National Wildlife Refuge and Lake Sacajawea, making this a convenient access point for exploring the broader Snake River system in southeastern Washington.

For current conditions, facility details, and any access restrictions, contact the Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
