About This Access Site
The Madisonville Boat Ramp provides convenient access to Lake Pontchartrain at the mouth of the Tchefuncte River, one of the lake's major contributing waterways. The facility features two boat launches with ample parking and floating docks to accommodate kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. This location is ideal for paddlers looking to explore the Tchefuncte River, which drains much of St. Tammany Parish, as well as the broader waters of Lake Pontchartrain.

Nearby paddlers should note that passes are required and can be purchased at Route 22 Bait and Tackle (201 Hwy 22 West in Madisonville). The ramp's position at the river mouth offers access to both freshwater paddling upstream and open lake exploration. Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge is located along the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain between Mandeville and Madisonville, providing additional nearby paddling and wildlife viewing opportunities.
