About This Access Site
Mallard's Rest is a boat ramp and fishing access site located on the Yellowstone River approximately 12-13 miles south of Livingston in Paradise Valley. The site features a maintained boat ramp and dedicated trailer parking area, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. This is an important access point where the Yellowstone River's gradient noticeably increases, and paddlers should be prepared for the water to pick up speed as you move downstream from the launch.

The site includes 13 designated campsites (tent and trailer-friendly), vault toilets, and a pack-in/pack-out setup. No water is available on-site, so plan accordingly. A camping fee is required for overnight stays. This location serves as an excellent put-in for extended paddling trips downstream or for day-use boating and fishing access. The changing river conditions below the ramp make this a good transition point for paddlers looking to experience more dynamic water.
