About This Access Site
**Location & Facilities**
Maquoketa City Access is a hard surface boat ramp located at North 5th Street near the City Ball Park in Maquoketa, Jackson County. This is one of five developed ramp facilities along the 80-mile Maquoketa River segment, making it a convenient put-in or take-out point for paddlers and small motorized boats. The site is designated primarily for non-motorized boat traffic and offers a straightforward river entry.

**Best For & Navigation**
This access point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists exploring the Maquoketa River's scenic corridor. The upper section of the river is most accessible to canoe and small craft traffic. Paddlers should note that directional signage throughout Jackson County marks access points and indicates distances to the next access location, helping with trip planning. If paddling downstream, be aware of Lakehurst Dam (located approximately 3 miles south), which requires a portage on the left bank.

**Access & Planning**
The ramp provides easy water access with ample parking for vehicles and trailers. Maquoketa City Access integrates well into multi-day river trips, as several other established access points are spaced along this segment, allowing for flexible route planning between Maquoketa and downstream destinations.
