About This Access Site
Marion Lake Campground offers two convenient boat ramps for accessing this 317-acre lake in the Ottawa National Forest near Watersmeet. One ramp is located on the east side of the campground loop, while the other is on the west side, providing flexible launch options depending on your preferred area of the lake. The site features a sandy swim beach, picnic areas, and a day-use area for non-campers.

Day-use fees apply from May 15 through October 15 ($5 per vehicle per day or $30 annual pass), though these are waived for those staying at the campground. The facility is easily accessed from U.S. Highway 2—turn north onto Marion Lake Road (Forest Road 3980) and continue approximately 1.5 miles before turning right onto Forest Road 3985. The campground is in a large, grassy field surrounded by hemlock and hardwood trees with an opening to Marion Lake. The altitude is 1,627 feet, with lightly rolling hills stretched between the many other lakes in the area.
