Marsh Lake (SE) Marsh #2 State Water Access Site

Located in Appleton, Swift County, this boat ramp provides public access to Marsh Lake, a 4,462-acre water body in the scenic Big Stone County region. The lake features a maximum depth of 5 feet, making it suitable for shallow-draft vessels including kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. Most launch ramps in the area can accommodate boats up to 12-18 feet.

This access point is conveniently situated near two significant wildlife refuges: Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge and Northern Tallgrass Prairie National Wildlife Refuge, offering paddlers opportunities to explore diverse ecosystems and observe wildlife during outings.
