The Hen House Unit offers convenient boat ramp access to B.A. Steinhagen Lake and the Neches River in the scenic Big Thicket region of Southeast Texas. Located south of Highway 190 near Beech Grove, the ramp is easy to find—enter Park Road 48 past park headquarters and continue to the first bridge. The park features multiple launch points and provides parking for boats and trailers at campsites, making it well-suited for day trips and extended outings alike.
This 705-acre park offers excellent paddling opportunities with nearly 14 miles of designated trails that wind through sloughs, the Neches River, and the reservoir. Kayakers and canoeists can expect calm, scenic paddling through the Big Thicket landscape. The area is also popular with anglers targeting crappie and catfish. A designated swim area is available within the unit. The nearby Campers Cove campground provides overnight accommodations within 10 miles if you want to extend your visit to this beautiful natural area.
