The Walnut Ridge Unit boat ramp provides excellent access to B.A. Steinhagen Lake and the scenic Neches River in the heart of the Big Thicket region. Located north of Highway 190 on Park Road 48, the ramp is clearly marked near the Nature Center and shelters. This is a popular launch point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the park's extensive water trail system.
Paddlers will find over 14 miles of designated trails that wind through sloughs, along the Neches River, and across the reservoir. The park features multiple boat ramps throughout the facility, accommodating both trailers and hand-launched vessels. A $4 park entrance fee applies. Nearby Campers Cove offers camping options for multi-day trips, and the surrounding area includes four National Forests worth exploring. Whether you're interested in day paddles or longer expeditions through this majestic Big Thicket landscape, the Walnut Ridge Unit serves as an ideal base for water recreation.
