**Location & Access:** Located in Smith, Harlan County, Kentucky, the Martins Fork Lake boat ramp sits approximately 1 mile above the dam. To reach it from Harlan, take US-421 South to Cawood, turn right on KY-987, then left at the US Army Corps Office and follow the road to the ramp. The 176-acre reservoir offers a convenient launch point for small boats, kayaks, and canoes.
**Facilities & Recreation:** Beyond launching, paddlers can take advantage of a sandy beach, picnic pavilions, camping areas, hiking trails, and playgrounds along the lake's shoreline. The lake also permits access via kayak launch and bank access in addition to the boat ramp. However, note that there is no marina or boat dock on-site. While the lake provides a scenic paddling destination in the Cranks Creek drainage, fishing is described as less than fair.
**Planning Your Visit:** Contact the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Eastern Fishery District (606-889-1705) for current conditions and regulations. The calm, flat waters of this flood control impoundment make it suitable for recreational paddling and family outings, with nearby areas offering additional outdoor recreation opportunities including hiking and ATV trails.
