About This Access Site
Located between Port Hadlock and Port Ludlow in Jefferson County, the Mats Mats Bay boat ramp offers convenient access to scenic water exploration in the southern Puget Sound area. The facility features a concrete plank ramp, a 150-foot loading float, and parking for eight vehicles with seven trailers. A porta potty is available on-site. Access the ramp via Verner Road, and please note that local residents request visitors use the marked route back toward Route 101 rather than local-access-only roads.

This launch point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists interested in paddling through scenic channels and harbors. Paddlers can explore north toward Oak Bay (approximately 3.8 miles by boat to where the 48th parallel crosses) or south toward Port Ludlow and beyond, passing notable features like Colvos and Snake Rocks. The area offers wildlife viewing opportunities, including river otters along the right bank, and numerous beaches suitable for breaks. Be aware that harvesters should stay near the 48th parallel to avoid trespassing on private property.
