About This Access Site
**Location & Facilities**
Located in Braceville, Grundy County, this access site provides a one-lane concrete boat ramp with adjacent parking. An additional 75+ car parking lot is situated near the ramp area, offering convenient access for boaters and paddlers. The site is part of the larger Mazonia area, which features multiple lakes and access points.

**Water Body Overview**
Bass Lake is a scenic paddling destination offering a mix of open water and naturalized shoreline. Note that extensive Phragmites (common reed) stands line much of the shoreline, which may limit access in some areas. During high water periods, the Mazon River feeds into Bass Lake, contributing to a diverse fish population. A majority of the shoreline is open to bank fishing and clearly marked. Paddlers should be prepared for limited vegetation management in certain sections.

**Nearby Recreation**
The site sits adjacent to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, the largest public open space in northeastern Illinois, offering excellent opportunities for exploring diverse landscapes. The area supports multiple recreational activities including kayaking, canoeing, fishing, nature study, and birding.
