Mazurik State Wildlife Area

The Mazurik Access Area is a well-developed launch site located on the north shore of the Marblehead Peninsula, just west of Lakeside in Ottawa County. This 15.9-acre facility provides direct access to Lake Erie and features a four-lane concrete boat ramp (approximately 50 feet wide) with a protected boat bay/safe harbor—ideal conditions for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational vessels. The site includes a 215-space vehicle and trailer parking area, making it convenient for day trips and extended outings.

As Lake Erie access, paddlers should be prepared for open-water conditions typical of the Great Lakes, including variable wind and wave conditions depending on the season and weather patterns. The protected boat bay offers a calmer launching area, which can be particularly helpful for kayakers and canoeists launching in less-than-ideal conditions. The nearby Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial adds historical interest to the area. This is an excellent starting point for exploring Lake Erie's north shore and for anglers, boaters, and paddlers seeking reliable public access to one of the major Great Lakes.
