About This Access Site
McCollum Lake State Forest offers a public boat ramp for paddlers, anglers, and small motorized watercraft. The ramp provides direct access to McCollum Lake, a 102-acre lake known for pike, bass, walleye, and panfish.

The boat launch area is located within the larger Hoist/Reid Lake recreational area managed by the Huron National Forest. This area offers additional opportunities for hiking, camping, and lake access. The boat ramp can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet in length, making it suitable for small trailered boats as well as hand-carried craft like kayaks and canoes.

Paddlers interested in exploring the broader waterways can access the Au Sable River via a carry-in site 13 miles southeast at Lost Creek. Overall, McCollum Lake State Forest provides a convenient launch point for enjoying the peaceful waters of McCollum Lake and the surrounding forest landscape.
