McCormack Campground offers a full-service access point to Lake Owyhee Reservoir in Malheur County, Oregon. The boat ramp is located within a developed campground that provides amenities including electric and tent camping sites, showers, and a wastewater dump station. This makes it an ideal base for extended paddling trips or weekend outings on the lake.
**Access & Conditions:** Located 27 miles south of Owyhee Junction (take Highway 201 west to Owyhee Avenue for 5 miles, then south on Owyhee Dam Road for 22 miles), the access road is narrow and moderately steep in places—drive slowly and yield to other traffic. Note that the waterline area at McCormack will be under construction in spring 2026, so check current conditions before planning your trip.
**Fishing & Recreation:** Lake Owyhee supports a healthy fishery with smallmouth bass, crappie, yellow perch, rainbow trout, and catfish available for both shore and boat anglers. The reservoir offers scenic views and multiple day-use areas. For reservations and current information, contact 800-452-5687. Additional boat ramps are available at nearby Indian Creek Campground and Gordon Gulch day-use area.
